Why bother? Why gather? #4 (I think, I’m losing count!)

August 24, 2010

So, there are lots of people saying the same thing: the gathered church is glorious, and should be a multi-faceted festival of lavish praise to God with an unmistakable mark of His manifest Presence by way of spiritual gifts, brought by the body to the praise of His glorious son Christ Jesus – amen!

However passionately (and therefore sometimes inarticulately – sorry!) I try and communicate my heart on this, I can’t come anywhere near how well Stef Liston does in this talk he gave at a Worship School event in Brighton last year.  I hear he was even better at Together on a Mission, too.

1 Corinthians 14:26 says we all have something to bring: worship leaders, you MUST find a way to let this happen – and it will probably involve a John the Baptist approach to leading: (He must increase, I must decrease)

Try these for size, and listen to Stef to hear some more!!!

  • Stop talking
  • Stop playing
  • Stop singing songs
